BIENVENUE

BIENVENUE DANS CLEMENTINE’S CLOSET
Nothing to do in quarantine? Honey, it’s time to clean out the closet. There is no better time than now to go through all of your clothes. Decide what to keep and what to donate. And yes, I mean all of your clothes: from the jeans that you stare at thinking “one day?” to the shirts that are now three sizes too small. As you pillage through your closet, keep in mind what is in style right now. What is actually going to be worn? What are you going to wear to the parties to celebrate finally leaving the house? The first look after shedding your new skin of sweatpants and sweatshirts must be stellar. And we all know, those parties will be ones you are destined to remember forever… or maybe not ;).
If Florence Given, my favorite artist and influencer, has taught me anything, it’s that the best way to own your boss bitch attitude is flaunting it with a sexy, yet confident, bra-top look. Throw on your cutest bra, lacy, neon, animal print, or whatever you’re feeling, and layer it. Whether under a blazer or with a matching pantsuit, nothing beats a glimpse of a classy bra. Lingerie and corsets are in, so don’t be afraid to show some skin. I was apprehensive at first when trying it myself, but what I did learn is that you’ll never feel sexier. To pull off the look, you simply need to own it. In the summer heat, forget the jacket altogether and boldly own your femininity. Or take a cue by Bella Hadid and skip the bra: go nude underneath. F*ck it. To put it simply, the tinier the top, the better.
In complete contrast, when it comes to jackets, go big or go home. Oversized garments reign, as proven by Billie Eilish’s unique style. Don’t be worried if the shoulder seam does not match up to your body, rather let it hang off a bit. Or just allow a more puffy jacket to do the work for you. When looking at all of the top runway shows for the Fall 2020 season, my point is proven. Just take a look at McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Moncler, Max Mara, Prada, Versace, well really, any of them. A bold shoulder provides an assertiveness that was lost before. Pretty much, between strong shoulders and the bra tops, the aim is to declare yourself as a badass before you even open your mouth. And don’t worry, the fun sleeves are still in. I am guilty of buying various tops with funky details, from big poofy sleeves, padded shoulders to layers of ruffles. But take another look at the Fall 2020 shows to reassure yourself (or maybe I just need the reassurance).
The time has come, and I know we have all dreamed of it. It’s time to channel your inner Blair Waldorf. When it comes to a headband, no one has mastered it quite as well as her, except perhaps Lana del Rey. From someone who loves hair accessories, it is the easiest way to spice up any fit. Ranging from clips to hats, hair accessories are always there for you on any bad hair day. The top-knot headbands give hair more volume, but my personal favorite is the padded style. Think of Prada’s 2019 Spring Runway Show, and you will clearly see their power. You’ll feel like a queen, and there is no better feeling. My go-to headband look is simply folding a scarf and tying it. Hair up or down, it has never failed me. The scarf can double as a quick and easy accessory as well by tying it around your bag handle. If you are not into the headband (it’s okay, I’ll forgive you), sunglasses always can do the trick too.
You can also create a color story to add another dimension to your look of the day. I am a sucker for a monochromatic theme or different shades of the same color. Of course, I top off any outfit with a bright lip or a sparkly gloss. But until we can leave the house, let your skin breathe. Wear the same sweatpants all week. Do the odd jobs lying around your house that you always postpone. Clean out your closet and feel somewhat productive during this time. Always keep around the trench coats and the leather jackets; those will forever remain a go-to. But until the quarantine-is-over parties, stay safe and stay at home. Until next time, bisous <3.
